Framing Landscape (Digital Tabletop Theatre)

Work in development

The work is a meditation on creating landscape art in the time of climate crisis and the threat to the environment. In particular it examines the frame as a symbol of human domination over nature, at a time when our relationship to the natural world has become so problematic. The piece consists of a table top digital theatre. A “performance” is created through digital video clips projection mapped onto a series of frames and windows in the theatre. The viewer stands in the “repoussoir” or dark refuge outside the theatre, and beholds the landscape through their own frame - physically and metaphorically. The projections are semi- abstracted and create a narrative through their relationship to each other and the binaural sound track.  The performance will last approximately 5-10 minutes and visitors will access the sound through headphones.

Forest Rain

Forest Rain is a new work I am developing in the studio. It builds on ‘Digital Forest’ by focussing on the rain area in that installation and adding new elements in both sound (by Nye Parry) and visuals. It meditates more on the increasingly unstable and out of balance rain patterns we are experiencing.
